Invermay Scrub Fire - Launceston 1.1 and 5.1 in Action

This evening we were out for a walk with the kids, we had just turned around and were walking back up the small hill on the Northern side of the East Tamar Highway near the Mayne Street overpass when we noticed some smoke ahead of us, as we got closer we could see more smoke and flames.

My wife called 000 while I took the kids out of the way, some other people stopped and one man tried to put the fire out with some water from his ute, this did very little.

Soon enough Launceston 1.1 (Urban heavy pumper) and Launceston 5.1 (Light 4x4 tanker) arrived, 1.1 stayed down on the highway while 5.1 came up and attacked the fire from the top. In a short period of time it was out and the area safe.
